Let's play some ball.

It was a day much like any other day,...hot, muggy, and the air was filled with excitement in anticipation of the first game oof the season and for many the first game of their lives. This was the case in our camp. Daegan eagerly awaited his first game ever. The atmosphere was tense and nerves were jumping. It was a real nail-biter for the dedicated fans as theywent through the prelimenaries of the big game to come. The players take the field. Jeers go up loudly from the capacity crowd. The bleachers (lawn chairs) are full. Spectators line the field where there is standing room only (or sitting on the grass for those who forgot to bring their own bleachers.) The umpire calls "Play Ball" and who takes bat in hand and heads to the plate but my very own Daegan William Dale Hood. A prouder moment I cannot recall as my young man takes his place at the plate, and then is repositioned by his coach to face the outfield. The first pitch is thrown and it is right down the middle and young Daegan lets go with his bat, connects with the ball and sends it high over the third baseman's head; but it is foul. Oh, but what a rush. He has the feel of the game in his blood and drives the second pitch past the shortstop for a base hit.
